Hull KR coach admits to being underdogs in 2011 Challenge Cup quarter-final against St Helens
English Rugby League side, Hull Kingston Rovers' (Hull KR), head coach Justin Morgan admitted that he and his side are not taking their upcoming 2011 Challenge Cup quarter-final against St
Helens Rugby League Football Club easily.
Justin Morgan added that he is impressed by his team’s results in the season, however, he admitted that he is not “getting carried away by” his sides recent performance.
Hull KR will take on St Helens in the play off game of the 2011 Carnegie Challenge Cup at Stobart Stadium on Sunday, July 24.
However, their performance in the 2011 Engage Super League is slightly disappointing. They are currently placed at 9th position in the table with 20 points coming from their 22 matches
in the season, which includes 10 wins. Hull KR is coming intot he quarter-final off a consecutive four-match winning streak in the Challenge Cup.
Morgan added that his team will start the game as “heavy underdogs” in their Challenge Cup quarte-rfinal, particularly keeping in view St Helens impressive overall record. He said, “We've
won four games but we've done it having had to battle a few different scenarios. I'm looking forward to the game, the players are looking forward to the game and it's whoever plays well on the day.”
Morgan praised the Saints recent team combination and performance in both the Super League and Challenge Cup. He added that the Saints will be utilising their experience of playing in the Cup’s
knockout stages. Saints are also the 2008 Challenge Cup champions.
Morgan has termed the trio of James Roby, James Graham and Tony Puletua as the key for Saints’ performance in Sunday’s crunch knock out game. He said, “Those three especially are hugely important
and, if can limit their involvement, we will have half a chance.”
Morgan has termed Roby as one of the finest hookers playing in the league. He further added, that with the return of several of their key players, the St Helens side is close to their full
strength, which is a dangerous sign because they are simply exceptional when all their first choice players are in the squad.
The Hull KR starting lineup for their Sunday’s game includes:
Briscoe, Fox, Cook, Colbon, Dobson, Newton, Fisher, Galea, Green, Hodgson, Lovegrove, Latus, Murrell, Netherton, Vella, Wheeldon, Webster, Welham, Taylor.
