Hull Kingston Rovers confirm departure of Ben Fisher at end of season – Rugby League News

Hull based English professional Rugby League Football Club; Hull Kingston Rovers (Hull KR) has confirmed the departure of their experienced hooker, Ben Fisher, from the club at the end of the
current season.
Hull KR, also known as the Robins, confirmed Fisher’s decision to part ways with the club in a statement released on their website on Monday, September 5.

Hull KR’s Chairman, Neil Hudgell, has praised Fisher’s performances in both the Super League and Challenge Cup competitions.  He termed fisher as a “champion bloke” and commented his personality
attributes besides his game related skills.
Hudgell has expressed his disappointment on losing the services of their star international hooker. He added that Fisher was an important part of the team since their inclusion in the top-level
championship.
Hudgell added, “I would sincerely like to thank Ben for his years of loyal service to the cause, I am sure everyone will look forward to giving Ben the sort of send off he deserves at Craven
Park on Saturday.”
The Australian born fisher will leave the club after spending six years at the Robins. He has expressed his displeasure at moving away from the club, however, he added that decision to join
the new club is important for his career and personal goals.
Fisher has thanked the players, management, coaching staff and the fans for their love and support. He extended his gratitude to Clint Newton, Ben Galea, Scott Murrell, Jason Netherton and
Ben Cockayne.  He added, “They've been there since the start with me, it has been a great ride and I've loved every minute.”
Commenting on his last performance for the Rovers at Craven Park, Fisher termed the occasion as emotional. He added that the fact that this will the last time that he will be playing in front
of the Rovers crowd puts an extra burden on him.
Narrating his experience of playing as the home crowd watches, Fisher said, “It has been fantastic playing in front of them week-in, week-out and what I will say is that there's no way I'm
leaving that field on Saturday as a loser. I'm certain we've still got another five games in us and we can achieve something special.”
The 30-year-old Fisher started his professional rugby league career with the Halifax in the 2004 season.  He remained there for two seasons, in which he made 31 appearances and scored 68 points
for the Halifax.  In 2005, he made his international debut for the Scotland and represented them in five international games.
In 2006, Fisher joined the Hull KR, where he so far has made 162 appearances for the Robins and has scored 33 tries for the club.
