Hull Kingston Rovers confirm early release of Clint Newton from contract – Rugby League News
English Rugby League Football Club, Hull Kingston Rovers, has announced the release of their second row forward, Clint Newton, from his current contract. This release has enabled Newton to join the Australian National Rugby League (NRL) outfit, Penrith Panthers.
Newton has signed a two-year deal with the Panthers, which will enable him to move back to the Southern Hemisphere.
Officials at the Robins have confirmed the early departure of Newton from his current contract with the club, in a statement released on their website on Monday, September 5.
Hull Kingston Rovers (Hull KR) Chairman, Neil Hudgell, has expressed his disappointment at losing the services of a talented second row forward.  He admitted that the club was aware of the Panthers intention to sign Newton. He added that the club has discussed the matter of Newton’s early release from his contract several times.
Hudgell further added, “Clint's reasons for wanting to return home now are perfectly understandable and given his exemplary service to the club over the last four years we were prepared to grant him a release.”
Penrith Panthers General Manager Phil Gould said, “On behalf of the Panthers I would like to thank Hull KR Chairman Neil Hudgell, and his management team for the professionalism and compassion they have displayed in allowing Clint to return to the NRL.”
Clint Newton has expressed his gratitude for the hospitality, love and support offered by the Rovers’ fans, management, coaching staff and players during his stay at the club.  He added, “It has been an honour and privilege to play for Rovers and live in the city of Hull these last four years.”
Newton termed his decision to join the Panthers as a tough choice. He pointed at family responsibilites as the main reason for his decision to move back to the Southern hemisphere.
The 30-year-old Newton started his professional Rugby League career with the NRL outfit, Newcastle Knights, in 2000. During his stay at the club, he played 100 games and scored 48 points for the Knights.  In 2007, he signed with the Melbourne Storm, where he made 15 appearances n the season for the Storm’s and helped them to win the 2007 NRL title.
In 2008, the United States born Newton joined the Super League outfit Hull KR. He has made 97 appearances for the Robins.  
Newton added that he will miss Craven Park electrifying atmosphere and said, “The noise and the feeling I get (at the Craven Park) will stay with me forever.” He will make his last appearance for the Hull KR at the Craven Park in their weekend encounter on Saturday, September 10.
