Hull Kingston Rovers hands over a new long-term deal to Australians Michael Dobson and Blake Green
English Rugby League club, Hull Kingston Rovers (Hull KR), has extended the contracts of their Australian duo of Michael Dobson and Blake Green. Dobson and Green, whose current contract was to expire at the end of the 2012 Super League season, were handed over pre-mature extensions in contract by the club.
The new long-term contract for the pair has ensured their stay at the Craven Park, until the end of the 2014 season. Officials at the club have confirmed the extension of stay of the players in a statement released on their website on Wednesday, August 3.
Green joined Hull KR after leaving Canterbury Bulldogs at the start of the 2011 season, while Dobson joined the club at the start of the 2009 Super League season from Canberra Raiders.
The 25-year-old Dobson has expressed his delight on signing his new long-term deal with the club. He said, “It's really good to get it all sorted out and there's been a bit of speculation but I'm really happy to have sorted it out and I'm really happy in Hull.”
Dobson expressed his desire to help the club lift a few titles in the coming years. He added that the recent recruitment drive by the club will go a long way to develop a formidable side for both Super League and Challenge Cup competitions.
Dobson further added, “We're going to build on a good core of players in the next couple of years. You're still going to have the experience of Ben Galea, Newts and Jake Webster, but we saw Jordan Cox and Louis Sheriff getting games at the weekend too.”
Dobson has further expressed his pleasure on Blake Green’s early extension in contract and praised his performance in his debut season at Hull KR.
The 24-year-old Green has made 22 appearances for Hull KR in the season so far, and has scored nine tries and assisted in the scoring of 19 other tries for Hull KR.
Green has expressed his satisfaction on signing the extension to is deal with the top Super League side. Speaking on the occasion, he has thanked Hull KR’s head coach Justin Morgan for the role he has played to bring him to the Craven Park based club.
Commenting on his partnership with Michael Dobson, Green said, “I'm very happy to get it sorted and very happy to be staying alongside Dobbo for the next few years.”
