Hull Kingston Rovers thrash Harleguins 34 – 0: Rugby news
New Craven Park based English professional rugby league football club, Hull Kingston Rovers (Hull KR), has defeated the rugby league strugglers Harlequins on Saturday, June 25 at Twickenham Stoop. Hull KR kept the Harlequins scoreless for the full length
of the game as they thrashed the Quins 34 – 0 in the encounter.
Saturday’s win is Hull KR’s seventh win from the 19 matches they have played in the season so far. The win has placed the Hull KR at the eleventh position in the Super League table with 14 points. Hull KR now has a three points lead over the 12th
ranked Harlequins.
Hull KR was coming off two successive defeats before Saturday’s big win. The magnificent victory should help the Hull KR lift their spirits and deliver better performances in their remaining games of the season.
Both teams started the match strongly as they denied each other easy scoring opportunities. For approximately the first two quarters of the match, both teams were scoreless.
Hull KR finally scored in the game courtesy of their Australian born utility back Jake Webster’s first try of the game after recovering from a tackle in the 29th minute of the game. However, the Rovers failed on the conversion.
In the last minute of the first half, Hull KR’s fullbacks Blake Green and Webster created a move to send their winger Liam Colbon to score their second try of the match. Scrum half Michael Dobson followed with a conversion to take the scorecard reading to
10 – 0 and it remained the same to the end of the first-half.
Hull KR started the second-half strongly and quickly put up a score in the second-half.  Webster got his second try of the game in the 42nd minute. Dobson followed with a conversion to extend the lead to 16 points.
Quins tried their best to retain the ball and territory possession but failed to do so.  In the last ten minutes of the fixture, Rovers scored 18 points courtesy of Green, Newton and Dobson’s 70th, 73rd and 80th minute tries
which were followed by Dobson’s successful conversion to end the game with a scorecard reading 34 – 0.
