I heard that taking a dump in your garden can cause increased plant growth, is there an truth to this?

  1. The salmonella outbreaks on garden vegetables were caused by Mexicans pooping in the field they worked in. Be careful where you get your vegetables. I grow my own.

Using left over egg shells, carrot tops, etc... are good for compost. But I don't think putting my p**p in my garden helps them grow. It just makes me think that I am eating my own p**p.

  2. Air heads here or what? Human compost is the finest soil conditioner you can get and its free. I only use my own as I know what I eat and its mostly plant life. How much meat is there in an average pizza? I know care has to be used - not least because you will get the blame if anyone gets 'Montezumas revenge' but I've used it for thirty years and I have garden soil (processed from hard clay). I am hygenic to a fault and none is allowed to breed flies or somesuch which will possibly create risks to others. The acid test as to whether it is any good is your worm population, they rather like our dung! My garden has such a vibrant population I've given up digging as they do it for me, and I don't like to hurt them. Digging should only be done in early garden development in anycase. Native American farmers knew the value of water and the balance between the three sisters crops.
Excessive deposition of human dung (in nitrogenous form) is poisoning the seas and causing weather change (generating sulphur and anerobic bacteria et al). I agree we need to process this stuff at national level but in the interim I'll carry on with my practices and my rhubarb is greatly sought after (A particularly hungry crop that loves human dung!).
