Human kind should not inhabit other planets?

"There emigration is out of the question. That'd be like spreading pathogenic organisms across our healthy universe" (Knives, a character from Trigun)

I mean, I sort of agree. Human kind has basically screwed one planet, would it really be right to let it inhabit and thus destroy another?

However, there's also the big (somewhat shameless) part of me that says that it'd be for the best. Survival instinct, ya know?

Of course, all of this is merely hypothetical. I'm very cynical, and I personally believe we simply won't live long enough to colonize elsewhere

I'd like another opinion on this (Hopefully many more than one, but I'll settle for one)

  1. "Man qua Man" is not a "pathogen." Learn what "Man qua Man" is, and you will discover that the best kinds of men achieve that "qua," and worst either don't know about it, or don't care in which case they become criminals or hedonists.

  2. I think it is perfectly fine. First of all it is against human nature to just let us die off. If mankind was on the verge of extinction we would not think it wrong to take another planet, we would look at it as a way to survive. Second, if the planet was uninhabited in the first place, who would it be harming...If it is inhabited why wouldnt we be able to live peacefully among other organisms like we do now...lastly survival of the fittest, if we are better fit to control another planet then some other life form, why just let ourselves die off...

Good question...it's fun to talk about
