  1. Human evolution probably stopped even earlier.

We have remained unchanged as a species since the last ice age.

The first reason is that  evolution is a response to environmental pressure, since we learned to make tools we have been able to change our environment to suit us instead of changing to suit the environment.

The second is reason is behavioral. Let's say you had a daughter with a mutation. She is covered with fur, that allows her to withstand frigid temperatures and even swim in freezing water. She would have to have children to pass on those traits to influence human development.

What are her odds of getting a date when she is covered with thick water resistant fur?

But beyond that, you are correct. Modern medicine enables people ,who in the past would have died, to live long enough to have children.  After several generations pass, those genetic problems will become more common.

This shouldn't be a huge problem as long as our civilization is able to maintain a level of technology that allows them to get medical care. If our civilization plunges into a new dark age, natural selection will restore the balance since those unfortunates will no longer live long enough to reproduce.

  2. Absolutely not, we are not totally immune to all disease and completely invincible. As able we are to survive, there will always be genetic mutations that result in better traits for survival, such as certain physical or mental traits that are more desirable to the opposite s*x. Plus, the climate and environmental conditions of our planet are not static, they are constantly changing, and we as a species will evolve and change accordingly through natural selection to meet the demands of our environmental conditions. Yes, we do control our environment to a certain extent, and if we continue to dwell in our fabricated environments i suppose that would negate the need for any genetic mutations. But, as it stands now, we are in far more serious trouble than you suppose. Greenhouse gasses are killing our planet, and evolution does not occur rapidly enough to counter the changes in our environment if we continue on our path of global warming, a halt in evolution is not what we should be concerned about, but a halt in the existence of our species.
