Human rights, depression, spec ed, and college admissions?

Would you consider denying a student, with an educational disability or depression, admission to a college a violation of that student's human rights. The denial base only on that student having depression or a educational disablity.

  1. It is not legal to deny a student to attend a  public education institution, however an institution does have legal rights to make sure all students are safe. It would depend on each individual status. You must be aware of the laws to make your  case strong enough to attend if you have been denied do to being a unstable and violent.


  2. This is illegal.

    First of all, the college has to have LEGAL reasons for admission denials.  And these reasons have to be written into a legal policy.

    If this has happened to you, go to the admissions office and ask for a copy of their 'admissions policy'. This will state the reasons a person can not be admitted to that college.

    I am sure depression and educational disability is not one of their reasons.

    When you get this policy, file a complaint with the complaints dept of the college and include a letter stating the whole situation, and include the copy of the admissions policy and state the college is violating their own policy.

  3. Colleges and universities do not have open door policies. They can deny for many reasons. I do not think they have to document why they reject applicants.
