Humans decend directly from walnuts...?

I have been eating a large bag of walnuts, they are very tasty.. But i can help but notice that they look like human brains they even have the spinal column part...

My question is do humans decend directly from walnuts?

  1. Humans definitely do not descend from walnuts.  We do share some common ancestor, though.  That would probably be some type of archaea.  What might contribute to the similarity is that 1) there is bilateral symmetry 2) there is a "stem", oweing to the need for vascular travel of materials from a central part 3) The "sulci" are the folds of the brain that make it resemble a walnut.  The similar pattern of a walnuts have nothing to do with sulci. There is, in DNA, many "garbage" genes that are carried from earlier ancestral species, but the split between plants and animals is so ancient that there is no possibility of brains being related to walnuts morphologically.  There is the possibility that eating walnuts may help prevent the deposits of amyloid proteins that lead to Alzheimer's Disease.


  2. Not directly, no - you'd have to take a lot of turns on your family tree before you get to walnuts.
