In my biology class there was a video shown in which the speaker stated humans are more closely to related to fungus than to most species in the kingdom animalia (I am sure apes are more closely related to us than fungus hence the most rather that all) and that is why we get a lot of anitbiotics from fungus. Is this true?

  1. Humans are more closely related to other animals than fungus. This is supported by a variety of sources including molecular evidence. The link below is to Genbank which can give you all the supporting evidence.

What the film MAY of been trying to say is that animals and fungi are more closely related than plants and fungi, which is true, although many people assume the opposite.

  2. Some biology teacher can answer this better but if it is true then it is because of massive volume of animals like sponges and worms and arthropods. Animals we would be closely related to like fish, birds, reptiles and mammals would make-up a small percentage of the animal kingdom.  You would have to know where fungus branched off from the ancestors of simple fish like creatures that we descended from.  Was it before or after the branch that gave rise to arthropods (bugs) for example?  You might get an answer from Wikipedia.

And fungus has antibodies for its own protection and it would have nothing to do with closeness of genealogy to us.

  3. Considering that our government treats us like mushrooms that is

keeps us in the dark and piles s*** on us all the time I would have

    to agree.
