Humbled http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 reduced to tears when handed the BBC Lifetime Achievement award

British style icon and a mentor for young football fans, the great David Beckham won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards in Birmingham, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 on Sunday night. Beckham is to thank for bringing the 2012 Olympics to
London, besides his numerous other achievements.
Born in Leystonbe, David Beckham started his sporting career as a mid-fielder with Manchester United in 1992, at the tender age of 17. His England debut was in September 1996 against Maldova and as of now he had played three World Cups. England had won a
total 115 caps during his stay, 59 of those being when he was leading the team as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314.
Beckham currently plays professional football for an American team http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Los-Angeles-Galaxy-c39818. Prior to this, he has had a tremendous career, lifting nine major trophies with Manchester United including the Premier League title and the FA Cup.
Before joining the American team, Beckham played for four years since 2003, signing up with the Spanish giants, Real Madrid. Beckham has also contributed off the field, including his role as an ambassador to the FIFA committee for England World Cup bid and
as the front-man for the worldwide chain of football schools.
Beckham certainly became a household name not only because of his incredible football skills but also for his good looks and fashion trend-setting sense. He became the most bankable spokesperson for his metro-sexual tendencies.
In the lights of the Birmingham stage, the night was honored with a VT showing Prince William’s tribute to the footballer saying: “I would just like to say congratulations to David. He is a very very pleasant person and a good man and he deserves everything
that has been said of him tonight.”
Beckham was presented the award by Sir Bobby Charlton and with wet eyes, the football star came up and said, “I want to thank my wife and my children. Not only has she given me three amazing boys but the support she's given me and she is truly and inspiration
for me every single day. So http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Victoria-c40883, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz - thank you."
Victoria was emotional too as she wiped her eyes while watching her husband accept that benevolent & highly esteemed prize, along with her sons.
"Football is a team game and without the teams and the players' support I have had over the years, I wouldn't be here today. I wouldn't be here without the skill and support of those players.” Beckham continued as he praised his career companions, "I've
been lucky enough to play with some of the great teams over the years. Playing for England has been one of the highlights and biggest things of my career.”
This was not the first time the super-star had gained an international award of such a calibre; Beckham was also named BBC Sports Personality of the Year back in 2001. Martin Lipton at The Mirror noted Beckham to be the youngest person to receive the BBC’s
Lifetime Achievement Award and further quoting, “Beckham deserves the award, though it does mark a new phase for the football star who’s been idolized more like a pop star.”
Previous holders of this award include the Spanish professional golfer Seve Ballesteros in 2009, and in 2008 Sir Bobby Charlton, the former English footballer who was part of the English team that won the World Cup.
