The Borussia Dortmund defender has admitted that both Shinji Kagawa and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733 are different players who cannot be compared.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364 left Dortmund to join Manchester United this summer after spending two very successful seasons at the Signal Iduna Park. The Japanese was influential in guiding the Black Yellows to success in the previous season
as Jurgen Klopp’s side secured domestic double comprising of the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal for the first time in their history.
The German champions signed Marco Reus as a direct replacement to Kagawa from Borussia Monchengladbach for an estimated fee of €17.5 million and are looking forward to the start of the new campaign.
Hummels insisted that Reus offers a different threat in comparison to Kagawa and claimed that the German international can score goals from distance and is also good in the air. He added that Reus’ addition will add more quality
to the squad and will make the team stronger.
However, he stressed that Kagawa had a sensational time at Dortmund and the side owes a lot to their former midfielder. He is hopeful that Reus will emulate the success Kagawa witnessed at the Signal Iduna Park in the future.
“Of course Marco Reus' set-pieces, free-kicks and amazing shooting technique - he can score goals from 30 yards - make him a different type of threat and if we can use him in the right way, I'm sure he's going to bring us a lot
of joy. But I wouldn't like to compare the two. Shinji was a great player for us and I'm sure Marco will be too,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Bayern Munich youth player further added that Reus will settle in well at Dortmund as he has a lot of friends at the club.
“I don't think integration is going to be a problem. He's known a few of the lads for a long time and he's a great guy. If he plays anything like he can do, he'll slot in just fine,” he concluded.
