The Borussia Dortmund defender has revealed that a club had approached him before he signed the new deal at Signal Iduna Park.
Mats Hummels recently signed a new deal to stay at the Signal Iduna Park and put pen-to paper on a three-year extension. The player will remain at the club until the summer of 2017 after winning two consecutive Bundesliga titles and a DFB-Pokal title in two years with the German giants.
The German international claimed that he received a ‘tempting’ offer from one of the top clubs in Europe before he signed his new contract with Dortmund. The player admitted that it was a very good offer but he chose to stay as he believes in Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the future.
“I actually had a tempting offer. But I will not say from whom,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Bayern Munich man played down recent reports that he is disappointed on starting on the bench with Holger Badstuber and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Per-Mertesacker-c29680 taking over in the heart of defence. He admitted that he has full belief in the team and is confident that they will have a successful campaign this time around.
“Whether I play or not, I always prepare myself professionally. I look at things on YouTube about the opposing players; their strengths and weaknesses,” the German international continued.
Hummels hailed Joachim Low and stated that the manager has been fantastic for Doe Mannschaft throughout. He added that the team is determined to perform under him and the players have their confidence in the manager which is very important.
“He is very calm and objective. He always hits the nail on the head. The training is great. And the quality of the players is also outstanding,” the centre-back concluded.
