The Borussia Dortmund centre-back is looking to improve after a rather satisfactory performance against Portugal in the first Euro 2012 game.

“We want to create more chances in the next game. Against Portugal we were often lacking that final pass,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Bayern Munich man added that the team’s attack was very slow and there were not many chances created upfront. The defender is targeting an improved performance against the Dutch and insisted that a victory would most
certainly put them through to the next round.
“Sometimes our movement up front was too slow but for us it was important not to give the ball away so we wouldn't be vulnerable on the counter attack. Next time we have to take the game into our hands more while maintaining the
same stability in defence,” he continued.
On the other hand, the Borussian hailed Mario Gomez for his sensational goal against Portugal. The striker’s inch perfect header proved to be the winner for Joachim Low’s side as Die Mannschaft claimed all points.
“[Gomez] was the decisive factor in our win. His finish was world class,” Hummels concluded.
