  1. No, hummingbirds don't eat seeds. They eat mostly flower nectar (or hummingbird mix provided by people with feeders), with the occasional gnat or other small insect for protein.

  2. I make my own mixture:

1 part sugar, 4 parts water.

In other words if you use 1/2 a cup of sugar you will need 2 cups of water.

Boil the mixture for about 4 minutes.

No need to add red coloring. The hummingbirds will come regardless.

  3. humming birds dont eat anything persay they love a red sugary water that u can buy in a power and mix your self or premixed. The suguary wanter can be poured in a humming bird feeder and you will be swarming with the birds!

  4. Actually insects make up the largest portion of a hummingbirds diet, after that nectar from flowers....so no, they do not eat seeds.

  5. they feed off of sugar water and nectar from flowers that have long tubes like hummingbird flowers

  6. She was buying the correct food- they only feed on NECTAR- that's why they are attracted and are found, in flowers...I buy the store packages and mix them fresh before filling the feeder.

  7. in nature they feed on nectar of flowers, so I dont think they will eat seeds.
