Humming bird food??

Question

Can it really kill humming birds to mix half sugar and half water to put in the feeders? Also, is it bad for them to add red food coloring? If yes, why?

Just Put Sugar Water And Red Food Coloring in One Of Those Feeders And They Will Eat From It.

They Are Really Attracted To The Red Thats Why You Have To Put It In There.

half sugar, half water, perfectly fine, they love it.  food coloring very bad. put a red juice in there like a touch of strawberry or something to color it.

that's all hummingbird food is...it won't kill them, and the food coloring does nothing to them except attract them...i have a hummingbird garden, and that's what i put in my feeders...attracts up to hundreds at a time at the peak of their migration through my area...

I mix half and half (sugar and water) and add red food color and have been doing it that way for years. I always have at least 8 feeders and many humming birs and have never had any problems to speak of.

Hello. I love hummingbirds. So tiny and cute! Buy a hummingbird feeder. You've got it right, mix about a fourth cup of sugar and water. It is a myth about the coloring. The color, i guess was just for people. The birds could care less. Change the solution every week. If you have a problem with ants, rub vaseline on the post.
