Question:

Hummus on garlic bread?

I usually melt butter and chop garlic and then spread it on bread and bake it in the oven. I was wondering if I added roasted garlic hummus to the butter and garlic if that would be good?

  1. I think it might be fun to add it AFTER you've taken it from the oven, but I think that adding it prior to baking would make the bread soggy.  Try it on a section though...what could it hurt??

  2. Sounds good to me!

  3. I say you spread it on after it is hot.  Hummus generally isn't cooked. This blog link has a wealth of info about hummus (and other middle eastern fare).

If you plan to make your own hummus, it is important to peel the chickpeas (remove the pulses).  You may think it is a pain but the quality of your hummus will improve dramatically.  If you leave the little skins on it tastes like paper mache paste.

People who disagree don't have any Lebanese or Syrian friends.

  4. i would toast bread

rub toasted bread with garlic clove

    add hummus

drizzle a little olive oil on top

  5. if you do then make humus youself the store bought is c**p. im 13 i made for a school project heres the recipe

1 16 oz can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans

1/4 cup liquid from can of chickpeas

3-5 tablespoons lemon juice (depending on taste)

    1 1/2 tablespoons tahini

    2 cloves garlic, crushed

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    2 tablespoons olive oil

    Preparation:

Drain chickpeas and set aside liquid from can. Combine remaining ingredients in blender or food processor. Add 1/4 cup of liquid from chickpeas. Blend for 3-5 minutes on low until thoroughly mixed and smooth.

Place in serving bowl, and create a shallow well in the center of the hummus.

Add a small amount (1-2 tablespoons) of olive oil in the well. Garnish with parsley (optional).

Serve immediately with fresh, warm or toasted pita bread, or cover and refrigerate.

you can get tahini at any most kmart grocerie stores.

  6. you melt ghee and chop garlic hummus tothe ghee and garlic if good

  7. Sounds yummy! .....  I sometimes put hummus on sandwiches, instead of mayo or mayonnaise:)
