Hung Tze-Hsiang wins the Hungarian Junior Table Tennis title
Hung Tze-Hsiang won the second International Table Tennis Federation Junior Single’s title of his international playing career. The Hungarian Junior Open started on 31
March and concluded on 3 April, 2011. The Junior Premium Circuit event was held at Tata, Hungary.
Hung Tze-Hsiang from Taipei was the top seeded player in the championship and he justified his position by showing an outstanding performance throughout the event. He won almost all the Junior Boys Singles and the Team title of the championship.
In the finals he defeated Serbian Dragan Subotic in a five game match scoring 11-4, 11-7, 13-15, 11-2, 13-11. In the semi-finals he beat the French player Alexander Robinot in four straight games 11-7, 11-8, 11-8, 11-7. It was an exciting match, as both
players fought hard for a victory.
In his first encounter of the event, Tze-Hsiang defeated Michal Benes from the Czech Republic in a head-to-head game extending to seven games scoring 11-5, 11-8, 7-11, 11-9, 8-11, 5-11, 11-8.
The close victory blossomed confidence in the young Tze-Hsiang and he kept his record high during the whole event. In the main rounds Tze-Hsiang beat the French player Enzo Angles in a five game match scoring 11-8, 14-12, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6.
In the quarter-final stage it was Tamas Lakatos who faced defeat against Tze-Hsiang. Tamas was the number eight seeded player of the event and number one from Hungary in the junior ranking. It was a straight victory for the Taipei player 11-6, 12-10, 11-2,
11-5.
Subotic also showed a consistent performance in the Junior Premium event. He went straight to the round of 32, as in the first round he luckily got a walk-over. He defeated Adam Szudi in a five game match scoring 11-8, 3-11, 8-11, 7-11, 7-11. The match was
competitive, as Subotic gained in confidence and took the victory.
In the round of 16 it was Tomas Mikutis from Lithuania who gave Tze-Hsiang some tough competition. A full seven games match tested both players, but it was the deciding game which gave Dragan a place in the quarter-finals 9-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 15-13, 7-11,
11-9.
In the quarter-finals Dragan defeated Antoine Hachard from France again in a close fight of seven games 8-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-9, 3-11, 11-13, 11-6. This exciting match proved to be very long and arduous for both players, as they battled it out for a win.
The semi-final was somewhat less difficult for the Serbian player, as this time he only gave one game of the match to his opponent. Dragan beat the Belgian player Emilien Vanrossomme scoring 10-12, 7-11, 14-12, 8-11, 9-11.
