Hungarian Grand Prix 2010: Saturday Morning Practice Session
This week’s sun has shone brightly on the Red Bull team at Hungaroring as both their drivers were able to glare and glow during all three practice sessions in Hungary. Previously, it was Sebastian Vettel holding the peak of the tally in the first two practice sessions held on Friday morning and later on Friday afternoon. However, today was a different story as it was the other Red Bull man, Mark Webber, who raised his teams’ flag at Budapest, Hungary.
Both the teammates were able to secure the first and second place of the session with Webber finishing at 1 minute 0.484 seconds ahead of his team mate Sebastian Vettel who finished with 1 minute 19.574 seconds.
Webber’s incredible pace making lap of 1 minute 19.574 seconds did not allow anyone else to supersede the driver. Vettel followed that performance with a lap time of 1 minute 20.058 seconds. It was not less than another hard blow for Fernando Alonso who ended the race at the third place in 1 minute 20.724 seconds for Ferrari.
Robert Kubica for Renault ended at fourth place with 1 minute 21.066 seconds. The second Ferrari driver, Felipe Massa saved the fifth place for himself with 1m 21.264s in the second team car.
Lewis Hamilton stood at sixth place, making his best performance in the three practice sessions with 1m 21.376s. On the other hand Vitaly Petrov, who had made a strong start to this season, was able to end at the seventh place in 1m 21.399s for the second Renault car.
He was followed by Nico Rosberg for Team Mercedes with a lap time of 1 minute and 21.422 seconds at the eighth place. The driver is hoping to do a better job in Hungary after coming out from a disappointing finish in his home race in Germany last week. The other Mercedes driver, Michael Schumacher, ended on a disappointing twelfth place with a lap time of 1 minute 21.939 seconds.
McLaren’s second car was spotted at the ninth place as Jenson Button made his best lap with a time of 1 minute and 21.473 seconds.
He was chased by both the Williams men but surprisingly, it was the rookie driver Nico Hulkenberg who led the team with his 1m 21.513s while Rubens Barrichello held his tail with 1m 21.705s in the team’s second car.
The two BMW Sauber drivers glued together for the thirteenth and fourteenth places as Pedro de la Rosa and Kamui Kobayashi lapped with 1m 22.151s and 1m 22.337s respectively.
Toro Rosso’ driver Jaime Alguersuari was chased by his teammate Sebastian Buemi, holding the fifteenth and sixteenth slots respectively after lapping with 1m 22.427s and1m 22.508s.
Force India’s drivers Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi followed the trend as they ended together for the seventeenth and eighteenth places with lap times of 1m 22.918s and1m 23.708s respectively. However, Liuzzi could have been able to finish better but the Italian’s car had a mechanical problem right at the start of the race on lap seven.
Moreover, Force India has also removed the blown diffuser that was used in the first two practice runs on Friday.
The last three places went to Virgin, Lotus and HRT. Lucas de Grassi was faster of the two Virgin drivers with a lap time of 1m 24.547s. Jarno Trulli of Lotus followed de Grassi till the end by recording his fastest lap in 1m 24.576s and Heikki Kovalainen ended behind him in 1m 24.623s. The twenty second place was taken by Timo Glock in the other Virgin car after clocking a time of 1m 24.805s.
Bruno Senna along with his teammate Sakon Yamamoto of HRT completed the table in 1m 26.479s and 1m 27.176s respectively.
