  1. I am more interested in the story that followed.

Renault suspect that Kimi's fuel rig was pumping fuel fasting than the amount per second allowed.

What Ferrari cheating. Can't see the FIA investigating that one.

  2. Great Race!!! shame to see hamilton get a puncture but good thing is he still leads the championship by 5 points. shame for massa engine failure 3 laps before the end. good to see Kovalinen on top spot of the podium for the first time. amazing how glock managed to be 2nd after the accident at the hockenhiemring. nice to see raikkonen on the podium since his last one was in france but alonso should have been on the podium i think cause renault are investigating raikkonens pit stop as he had trouble passing alonso and he ran wide on the lap alonso pitted and still got ahead after raikkonens own pit stop.

  3. I saw it in bits and pieces so can only comment on what I DID see.

Massa's start was ballsy and great to see. Ok, the Hungaroring only has one realistic overtaking place and he took his opportunity well. Hamilton couldn't really do much but acquiese to his Ferrari countepart. It was quite Schumacher-esque. .

Hamilton was very, VERY lucky that Ferrari engines dont like hot weather and leading races, he would do well to remember that championships aren't won by winning a hat-trick of races mid season, irrelevent how the media hype it up.

Heikki deserved the win, I take back my earlier comment about him not winning a race until it is 'mathematically acceptable for him to do so'. Good to see him on the top step.

Hope Valencia offers a great ace, 3 weeks and counting zzzzzzzzz

  4. Hahaha Rocketman's "Flippy" has made me laugh so much!!!! That's brilliant!!!

There's not much else to add to everyone else's comments about the race - it's all been covered really - all I can say was Hamilton managed to suddenly get good luck out of bad luck, "Flippy" had even worse luck, Glock deserves a round of applause and although Heikki only won because of "Flippy's" misfortune, it's about time he was on that number 1 spot!!

  5. All this praise for Flippy?  Great traction at the start and a fraction quicker than LH in the first stint.  But LH was gaining in the second stint - and apparently with more fuel on board (or is that gamesmanship by McLaren?).  With LH having only 5 seconds to make up and a much lighter car, it is really not clear that Flippy would have been ahead after the second stops.  Nice that the Evil Empire made a race of it for once, though ;)

That Kimi could suddenly turn fast laps is very odd; FIA orders?  And yes, the idea of Ferrari cheating again is shocking - I can hardly believe it.  FIA?  Hello, FIA are you there??  Oh, Mr. Mosley is "busy" again, I see . . .

  6. Opinions on individual drivers:

Massa- drove a fantastic race after 2 disappointing drives. He deserved the win.

Heikki- was lucky to get his first win, but he's had terrible luck earlier in the season so it's about time he got a break!

Raikkonen- drove a good race as always but clearly he needs to improve his qualifying performance. He can't afford to be stuck behind a Renault/Red Bull/Toyota/whatever for half of the race if he wants to be champion.

Hamilton- solid drive but again he had tyre problems. It's clearly not a coincidence, he needs to try and adjust his driving style slightly.

Glock- surprising pace and starting fuel load. A well deserved 2nd place. Looks like Toyota currently have a slight edge in the race for 4th in the constructors.

  7. I thought it was a particularly dull race to be honest.

Massa's engine failure after such a storming start was just the most awful luck. Lewis was really lucky. He still managed to extend his lead over poor Felipe despite his own bad luck.

Glock was surprisingly excellent and thoroughly deserved his podium finish. The Renaults seem to be getting a bit faster.

Kimi might as well have not bothered turning up. I think it's time for either Ferrari or Kimi himself to ask questions about whether he wants to compete anymore.

I think the most curious thing to come out of the whole GP is the talk about how Lewis drives his car.

Everyone seems to be saying that it's hardly surprising he had a tyre failure because of his driving style. To the best of my knowledge, isn't this the first time he's actually suffered a puncture with no obvious reasons why? I think Lewis has a good driving style that suits him well. If, as everyone keeps saying, it's a consistent problem and his having tyre problems are no surprise then why does he a) lead the drivers championship and b) why did he do the same at this point last year?

Lewis-mania was out of control last year but if this is the new way people have to just mention his name then it really has become a problem. Leave the lad alone and let him race.

Also, if this is a problem he has in just hot countries, then why no tyre problems in Malaysia, Bahrain, Spain, Brazil?

It's about time someone shot James Allen. His commentary is not only a little bit inaccurate at times but seems to becoming quite fantastical also.

Last little moan about the GP. Hill's commentary. While an improvement over his previous attempts he's certainly not a good replacement for Mr. Brundle.

  8. I thought this race was rather good.

Felipe had an incredible start, but bad luck towards the end with that engine failure.

Lewis, I wasn't surprised when he suffered that puncture. This always happens with him. He wears his tyres out so much and considering the conditions were really hot and they were using the soft and super soft tyres, u have to take care of them and he didn't!

Fernando and Nelson, I was happy for their performances (4th and 6th overall), but I do feel that Fernando could've gotten 3rd place if he would've gotten ahead of Kimi on that final pitstop.

Kimi, well, this weekend, it seemed to me he just wasn't performing well, but towards the final 10 laps of the race, he seemed to finally wake up and race, but like u said, he had to cool his engine down after seeing Felipe retire due to his engine failure.

Timo, I was very happy for him! Coming from his crash in Hockenheim to qualifying 5th in the race and getting Toyota's 2nd podium of the season was quite a recovery! Big congrats to him!

Heikki, all I have to say is that I'm happy he won, but IMO, he wouldn't have gotten that if it wasn't for Felipe's retirement!

Drivers of the race, for me, were Felipe and Timo!

  9. Massa drove better than any other!!! He's really the best! but on sunday he was very unlucky!!! His race was fantastic!!! that was HIS victory, not heikki's!!!

  10. I wondered what happend when this question wasn't posted. Well, it was ok. I expected better of Kimi and he was lucky to have finished 3rd. He didn;t make a very brilliant start and was dismal in quali. He needs to get over his quali performances if he wants to win the title.

Heikki... benefitted from Massa's engine failur (poor guy, he really deserved to win. If only he engine was a little bit more patient). But I'm glad that Heikki beat Hamilton. However, since Hamilton had a puncture I'm not really sure if he did beat him at all. But still, Heikki won. Hopefully it'll inspire him

  11. Massa had a great start (it looked as though both McLarens bogged down a little when getting away from the grid) and he deserved to be in the lead after turn 1 (Hamilton didn't really put up much of a fight).

I don't think Massa could have overtaken Hamilton if he had been required to do it under 'normal' racing conditions, and whilst it wasn't his fault that the engine blew up - you have to ask what on earth the team were doing.

You could say that Hamilton brought about his own demise - but if that is the case then Bridgestone really need to come up with a tyre that can be raced on, rather than one suitable for having a stroll around the Hungaroring.

Kimi was useless - if he could put in those laptimes, why wasn't he doing it all weekend....  I think he's given up on racing (or at least on racing with Ferrari).  Glock had a great race and he deserved the podium finish.

  12. Great move my massa to overtake both Mclarens but in the end he was let down my their crappy Ferrari engine.

I'm still mystified by Kimi's mysterious pit stop that got him ahead of Alonso and into third place. I don't think he deserved it, he seemed content to be behind the Renault for most of the race and never really tried to overtake.  It's been a few days since then and i don't really remember much else of what happened..

  13. It was good, it's always nice when there is an unexpected result. All that was missing was a Honda at the front...

  14. Damage limitation for Kimi, and then Lewis when his tyre went.

Award for the worst luck this race goes to Massa undoubtedly.
