The elimination round of the Olympic Qualification Tournament is scheduled to start on Friday, August 26. A total of 12 European teams will start the action in the influential round of the qualification tournament. The grid of 12 teams also includes Hungary
and Latvia. The two sides are scheduled to meet this coming Friday in the opening match of the elimination around.
Sandor Kantor is leading Hungary into the elimination round as head coach. He has prepared the team well for the home and away matches against Latvia. The Hungarian men will start the quest for an Olympic slot by taking on Latvia in two matches. The first
match will be hosted by Hungary, while the second match will be played in Latvia. The city of Kecskemét in Hungary will provide the ground for the exciting first match on Friday. The sale of tickets has been started and the income resulting from the ticket
sale will be offered to a local association which supports the new crop of young Volleyball players in Hungary.
The mentor of Hungarian squad, Sandor Kantor, expressed his views about the upcoming matches. He stated: “After our training sessions this tournament was extremely useful in order to check our strengths and weaknesses without having to cope with the stress
to get a positive result out of the competition. We have been testing different options and got back to our training camp with something to work on. We have to get a better team work and this applies especially to the coordination between our setter and spikers”.
Kantor is confident that his side will win both matches as the players have spent enough time in extensive training and practice for the matches with Latvia. They are determined to display a spectacular game, in order to beat the opponents. Hungarian team
is composed of mix bag of young and experienced players. However, they will be missing a key player Jozsef nagy who is staying out of the court duo to an injury. He got injured during the tournament in Macedonia and failed to return in the team on prescribed
date.
The second match of the elimination round between these two teams will be played next month. The victorious team of the elimination round will get the chance to play at the next stage of the qualification, which is set to take place in November. The very
last act of the European Qualification is slated for May 2012 in Bulgaria where only one ticket to represent Europe in London will be at stake.
