Hunt Ball to hunt victory at Cheltenham – Pulteney Land Investments Preview
Hunt Ball looks to be the hot-favourite runner for the high-stakes contest of Pulteney Land Investments Novices’ Handicap Chase which is going to be held at 5:15 (GMT) on the opening day of Cheltenham Festival, March 13.
The Class 1 contest with £28,475 of prize money will take place at 2m4f110y Good track. There are total 20 entries for the mega marathon.
The Keiran Burke-trained bay gelding is all set to compete against Saint Are, The Panama kid, Going Wrong, Battle Group, Bless The Wings, Falcon Island, Quincy Des Pictons, Owen Glendower, Triolo D’ Alene, white Star Line, Mic’s Delight, Charminster, Ackertac,
Carrickboy, Cucumber Run, Vino Griego, That ‘Ll Do, Harpsy Cord and Educated Evans.
Since making his debut in June 2009, Hunt Ball has hunted a number of glaring triumphs. During November-December 2011, the seven-year-old maverick gelding accomplished a marvellous hat-trick.
After finishing second in a race on January 2, 2012, the Anthony Knott-owned horse again won three races in a row during January-February.
These two hat-tricks have established Hunt Ball as the hot-favourite runner for today’s gala showdown. For most of the time in his career, he has run with favourite tags.
The 11-race young runner has 6 victories to his credit. He has earned £29,538 in prize money so far.
Thus, the dashing gelding owns enough momentum and fighting spirit which he will definitely unleash at Cheltenham to notch up top spot. Hunt Ball’s chances to finish first are as high as 95 percent.
However, two of the gelding’s competitors named as Triolo D’ Alene and Going Wrong are likely to challenge his position on the course.
Triolo D’ Alene has won three out of his total six races to date. The champion trainer Nicky Henderson’s young and talented gelding started his career in July 2011. He registered a glorious hat-trick by winning continuously from October 30, 2011 to January
21, 2012.
At the moment, the five-year-old runner is carrying plenty of form which will help him thrive at Cheltenham.
Going Wrong is on a hat-trick. After bagging his maiden victory in November 2009, Ferdy Murphy’s bay gelding won the second race of his career in November 2011. He went on to finish first in his very next outing on January 5, 2012.
He will also be able to unleash sufficient firepower at Cheltenham where he is going to run for the very first time in his career.
Among the other runners, Quincy Des Pictons, The Panama Kid, Falcon Island, Owen Glendower and Charminster look to be solid enough at the moment. They will also show decent runs in the race.
Thus, there is going to be a heated competition at Cheltenham. The race will be packed with sensation and thrill. Let us see who gains what. Good luck to all the runners.
