Former Liverpool striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roger-c31516 Hunt, has advised Luis Suarez to try to stay at his feet rather than going down too easily inside the box, in order to rebuild his reputation.
The Uruguayan International has developed an ill fame of simulating dives inside the 18-yard box in order to win over penalties.
During the Reds EPL game against Stoke City on Sunday, the 25-year old made a farcical stunt inside the Potters box. After being lightly caught by a Stoke defender, the striker fell down deliberately, exaggerating his fall by stretching his limbs.
His comical stunt infuriated the Stoke boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Pulis, who called upon the FA to take stringent action against him, in order to curb the increasing trend of diving by the strikers.
Earlier, the Anfield chief, Brendan Rodgers, accused the referees for meting out unfair treatment on Suarez, claiming that he was being victimized due to his bad reputation.
Hunt, who represented Liverpool in 404 matches, thinks if the striker wants to repair his bad fame of being a diver, he needs to try his best to stand his ground inside the box.
He said that even though any efforts he makes won’t completely eradicate his bad reputation, he feels it might change the match official’s impression of him.
“Someone must tell him to stop it, just play football. He doesn't have to do all that. It's not asking a lot for him to stay on his feet in those situations,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“It won't be easy for him to lose that reputation but I think that's the way to go. It's only going to benefit him eventually. Then referees will look at him and see he is behaving himself.”
Suarez is currently in hot form, having already bagged 7 scalps in 10 appearances this term. He is Liverpool’s main player upfront.
Last season, he picked up an eight-match ban for his bad conduct, which had an adverse effect on the Reds performance.
The Englishman underscored that the forward should take into consideration the repercussions of his actions and should always be mindful of his duties to the club.
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 need him and they need him on the field all the time rather than being suspended,” he added.
