Schalke FC star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-c21175 suggested that he is in touch with the club officials and said that talks are underway over the agreement of a contract extension. The attacker was rumoured to depart the Miners during
the summer transfer market but choose to stay with the German side.
The former Real Madrid and AC Milan forward has only one year remaining with Schalke and will be a free agent next summer if he does not agree a new deal with the club. The unsuccessful prolonged talks on the transfer deadline
day indicated that the Dutch star will embark on a new adventure with a top European club.
However, no offers were made for his signature and therefore, he decided to stay put. The frontman is not concerned over his suitors and explained that he has no problems in extending his contract with the UEFA Champions semi-finalists
of 2011.
He added that as of yet nothing has been finalised but confirmed that he was pleased with the progress of the ongoing contract discussions. The star player stated he will not discuss any further his talks with the Bundesliga outfit.
He conceded a few meetings were held but nothing constructive happened as it needs more time.
"I am not about to make any statement on my contract situation. It's true that we have had one of two further chats, but nothing has happened. It will take more time," Huntelaar was quoted as saying in an interview.
"Maybe the case of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will take more time," said chairman Clemens Tonnies.
"I have no problem with that as long as he gives his all for Schalke in the meantime. Hopefully at the end there will be a decision reached which is similar to that of Jefferson Farfan," he finally concluded.
Schalke are desperate to tie down last year's Bundesliga Golden Boot winner and the club chairman also maintained that a few more meetings will be set.
