Hunter Pence shines as Philadelphia Phillies defeat Milwaukee Brewers 7-2 - MLB Update

The first four innings were score-less for both teams as the batters struggled and the pitchers overcame them with outstanding pitches. In the second inning, Pence grounded out to third base, John Mayberry Jr. popped out to second base and Carlos Ruiz flied
out without adding even a single run for the Phillies.

any run. In the fourth inning, Phillies’ short-stop Wilson Valdez and Pence both ground out to third base while at right-field Placido Polanco fouled out.
At the bottom of the fourth inning, Jerry Hairston Jr. walked but Ryan Braun popped out to second base, Fielder struck-out and Corey Hart ground out without any run contribution. Brewers scored their first run during fifth inning when Betancourt hit a solo
homer (378 feet) towards left-field to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Phillies opened their sixth inning with a blast and smashed six runs to take a lead while Brewers also added one run to cut their deficit 6-2. Shane Victorino posted a single run when Valdez doubled to deep centre-field. The second and third runs for Phillies
were taken by Valdez and Polanco when Pence hit a triple run shot to deep centre-field.
Pence said, “It starts with Cole Hamels, I can tell you that. Anytime that happens it gives you a great chance to win.”
Hunter added the fourth run when Mayberry Jr. reached to short-stop position on an infield single. Ruiz hit a ground rule double to deep left-field and Mayberry Jr. posted one run. The sixth run was taken by Ruiz when Ben Francisco singled off left-field.
On the other hand, Hart homered (395 feet) towards right-centre to keep the Brewers alive.
In the ninth inning, Phillies got a 7-2 lead when Pence doubled to deep right-centre and Valdez contributed the final run. As a result, Phillies led off 1-0 in the four-game series against Brewers at Milwaukee.
