Question:

Hunting Duckboat-Drylock?

I have an old canoe that has been sitting in the back yard for years. I repaired some structural cracks with bondo, and am concerned that the compromised gelcoat will allow water to seep into the fiberglass. I don't want to gelcoat it...as it will be a runabout canoe. I don't care what the canoe looks like, and will be camouflaging it. I was wondering if Drylock will work to prevent water seepage. Thanks for your tips and input.

  1. I don't know about Drylock?

Paint the outside with Parker Duck Boat Camo paint. That should seal outside micro cracks where water could get in. Also, at an automotive shop get 2 spray cans of trunk and truck bed liner. Shoot that on the floor of your canoe and it helps prevent slips and roll away stuff with the rubbery gritty texture. It's usually black and you can camo over it in a couple of days.

I love canoe hunting. You see all kinds of wildlife.
