  1. I know you said no Fords, but seriously here, I have a 99 Ranger 3.0 auto manual AKM hubs and Big O 265-75-16 Bigfoots.  It has only been stuck once, when I hydro-locked the motor and blew it in 5 ft of water.  Other than that, it is immune to mud, snow, rocks, hills, wherever.

    They are cheap, around $3-6000.

Thats my daily driver, my tear up truck is a 89 Toyota 4Runner.  You cant go wrong with one, you can seat 4 guys in it, and thehy last forever.

Another great buy would be a Ford 4WD, with the 300ci inline 6 cyl.  Super torquey, last forever as well.

Old mail jeeps are a great idea as well, since they are cheap and parts are prevalent.

Any Jeep product would be a satisfactory choice, as they are reliable, and do well off-road.

  2. Toyota, Ford, Chevy/GMC

  3. They only truck i found that fits my hunting needs was a dodge dakota .I bought a 2001 dodge dakota 4x4 ,v8 ,5sp ,manual windows ,and doorlocks.I put a 4inch lift on it and some 1250 bf goodwrench mudtracks .dual exaust .it really perfoms well in the mud .I like it because it is a midsized truck ,you can turn around easy and get into tight spots, but its big enough that you can get it with a v8 .so it has lots of power for pulling boats and turning the bigger tires.I also like manual transmisions .ideling through the woods looking for deer or tracks is tuff on auto transmisions .my truck dosn`t have power windows or locks to break .it is just for hunting .I bought it new and haven`t had any problems with it. just a sticky starter and brake calipers ,but thats because it sits in my shop for 9 months a year without being driven.

  4. i know you said no ford but the bronco in my eyes is the best truck for hunting i have taken home every game animal i hunted in that truck and i would never sell it because it has too many good memories in it and i have only got 20,000 miles on it and i have set it up for mud riding 4 wheeling and off roading but if you are stictly no ford or honda i suggest the the chevy silverado with a cab cover for concealing the animal and that is why i picked the bronco because it had a cab cover and i like fords more

  5. i have a 99' dodge ram 4x4 i can loan you . if you want to take it through the mud, that is fine. my only  rule is ..clean it up when you are done !!  oh, and can you drive a stick..it is a 5 speed...? if so let me know. you may want to put gas in it also..i am driving my car and the truck is on empty..gas prices are crazy !!

  6. Nothing beats a Toyota 4-wheel drive pick up truck- case closed.

  7. Ford Super Duty ,Extended Cab, Deisel, Dually, and 4x4.

    My drream truck.....

Or a BIG DODGE RAM DUALLY ....

  8. You happen to be in luck!!! ---- With gas prices thru the roof there are people just dumping there 4x4 vehicles.... I have never in my life seen so many deals on craigslist..... Get what evers a deal... Of course your probably not the hunter outdoorsman of the Subaru Outback type so avoid the foreign stuff..... Chevy, Ford, Dodge and Jeep all make ok stuff..... If you dont want to get stuck just replace the differentials with a posi unit or lockers and some decent tires....

  9. My 97 Ford Ranger has served me well.

  10. Hunting truck?

    Going though mud

    Not Ford or Honda

Stay away from a diesel, they weigh too much for lots of mud

If you need a pickup I would look into the smaller ones like the s-10, the dakota, toyota and such

Or for a true hunting, go through mud, short wheel base 4x4 a Jeep with a removable stand mounted on the roll cage

  11. Ford F-150 , that Truck will last a life time. Great Trucks.

  12. go for a chevy blazer or a jeep wrangler, blue book price on a blazer is about $5000 but get a good crappy one you can probably get one for $1000-$2000 because of the rising gas prices.

PS theirs nothing wrong with ford, they came out with the mustang!
