I know I am unable to hunt with my shotgun this year do to the move I made, but I would like to Bow hunt but unsure how far I have to be from the high way.. It is killing me to constantly see 6 to 8 Big Buck in my back yard and not being able to know if I will have a chance at them this year or not.. So whats the distance from the road, or another house I have to be? Is there a certain amount of land I can or cant hunt? I live in Indian Head, Maryland

  1. I think its 100 yards. I am not really sure though. Your best bet is to read the manual that comes with your hunting permit.

  2. Wisconsin is 50 feet from the center line of the road.  That would be the lane closest to the shoulder for multiple lane highways.   Maryland only prohibits hunting from the road.  If you are off of the road, you are legal.   It does not say if the hunting near someone else's home applies if you are on your own land.

Here is the listing from Maryland:

In addition to the regulations listed elsewhere in this guide, IT IS UNLAWFUL TO:

Shoot on, from or across any public road.

Hunt or shoot at wildlife within 150 yards of an occupied structure or camp without permission of the owner or occupant.

  3. yep 100 yds and read your manual

  5. You should be able to get your answer by calling the DNR.
