Question:

Hunting clothes-blaze color?

every year i've been hunting with camo clothing in alaska and moose hunting is coming up in september, the color blaze, is it for wearing when the sunrise/sunset is about to happen or is it for safety precautions like walking out in the wild and hunters in the area would'nt shoot your way, if seen wearing the blaze color?

would the color effect my hunting for moose even if its between 4:00pm-10:00pm?

i never hunted with that color before, thought it would help out with any search in case i get lost someday or something, hope that never happens!

  1. Blaze orange is the best you're going to get. the reason us hunters wear blaze orange is because we don't want to have lead in our back. Seeing that Moose are color blind like deer you can cover yourself head to toe in blaze orange (there are jump suits at Fleet Farm that are blaze orange that's what I got for christmas for my first year of hunting and it's a life saver.

  2. the blaze clothing is used mainly for safety purposes it shouldnt have any effect on the moose it is just to let you be seen by other  hunters if they are in the area you may be in

  3. Yep, that's why it name is Hunters Safety Orange.

Other hunters will see you and not mistake you for a game animal. The requirement depends on the state your hunting in and the season. For example it is not required while hunting waterfowl.

  4. it is for safety they chose hunter orange because it stands out more then any other colour. its meant to help notice or be noticed by other hunters when hunting so they know its a person not ananimal.

  5. the bright hunter orange stands out well against any background and is highly visible for a long distance. It's sole purpose is to prevent someone from shooting towards you, or claiming they didn't see you. Deer, elk, moose, caribou etc are color blind, they see movement but not color.

    shoot safe

  6. The orange is for safety. And moose are color blind so it doesnt affect hunting.

  7. blaze orange is a safety color to other hunters and it shouldn't affect hunting because it will look grey to the moose and that blends in good with dark woods or against trees

  8. The orange color is for your safety.

  9. One of the best cartoons that a hunting buddy sent me shows a hunter in Hunter Orange walking through a meadow. Just inside the woods are two deer. One deer says to the other deer, "I wonder why they wear those bright orange clothes?. You can see them for a mile."

    Loved it
