  2. Look for used in the Buy Sel trade section of the gun forum in your state

Pay careful attention to whether the gun can accept steel shot

I just bought a killer as new Winchester 1400 for the late 60's for $135

No one else wanted it because it can't shoot steel shot,Not being a duck  I didn't think about that

  3. i have the 870 express combo. i got it for $259.00 new { it was on sale } . try a local gun shop that has trade-ins . you can usually find a good gun  for a decent price.  i live in southers indiana, and several gunshops in my area will trade guns or do an exchange { upgrade } on firearms.   ask around , and good luck.

  4. Hi----- Is there a DicksSporting Goods store in your area? Every fall they have a Mossberg 500 Deer gun 12 gauge shotgun on sale for $199.....  I dont personaly like to buy used shotguns unless I know how much its been used and if it was maintained..... Buy a New One! --- Yeah your going to have to cough up a little more $$$ but not much more.... Mossberg has new field shotguns for under $275...... Look into one of these.....

  5. G'Day mate i don't know how it work in your neck of the woods but id use a semi auto or side by side or under and over shot gun for duck and deer i would use a pump action but remember you get more power from a pump action, side by side, under and over shotguns  semi auto looses power because it has to throw out the empty shell. If you are experienced with a pump action then you could keep up like your shooting a semi auto it depends how good you are, spend a bit more and get a moss berg 500 combo or 870 express  cheers mate

  6. A pawn shop or gun shop might allow you to get more gun for your money. Most of the new shotguns available for under $200 will probably be single shots like the new england firearms. They really aren't bad little guns for the price.

Mavrick pump shotguns might be another choice. They can be found in the 200-250 range and are built by mossberg.

If you plan to hunt all three with one gun, that could be a problem. duck requires long range shots, which means a full choke barrel. Squirrel ranges are usually less that 20 yds, and a modified or improved cylinder choke would be better. Deer with buckshot could be fired in either gun, but if you plan to use slugs, you really need a slug barrel, or a cylinder choke barrell.

The rem 870 mentioned above would be an excellent choice, since extra barrels could be bought for different needs.

  7. Look for a Mossberg Model 835 Ulti-Mag Shotgun combo. They are around 400.00 brand new, but you should be able to find one for 200.00 with a barrel that suits your immediate needs, then afterwards you can add a second barrel to cover other types of game. The barrels interchange easily, so when your not on the hunt you can get a short barrel for self defense purposes too. It is a very versitile shotgun

  8. My son said to try pawn shops. He said good new shotguns are usually around $300 and up. My son said a good one to get is a Remington 870 pump shotgun which is around $350 or so.

Poor little ducks, squirrels and deer! =(
