Not a cop but have visited HB. with these observations--nice place to live but expensive housing,close to beach with breezes which cut the air pollution, city has money for school and police services(like the oil revenue helps)------CoowaBonga Dude--Surf Talk!

The police there are not to be trusted.  I grew up being told not to go near there, they're quite corrupt.

It's a great place to be a cop you can harass all the hot women you want!!!! And theres hardly any crime in that city. All you'll be doing is catching jaywalkers, litter bugs and the occasional crazy homeless hippie trying to fight people. You could have it alot worse like working in South Central LA LOL A rent a cop can do your job!

I work in HB and I think it is overrated and pretty ugly when you get a half mile from the beach. Too many cinder block walls lining the roads, strip malls and a lot of trailer parks.

As far as being a cop you would not have it too hard. Mostly dealing with problems on the beach from young guys with too much testosterone proving how tough they are. HB has a small ghetto section with 'gangs' that also try to appear tough. You have to deal with the pale and pasty tourists that come to visit in droves in the summer. They have a lot of weekend (more often than not) events by the beach and you will probably be working a lot of crowd or traffic control. That also means overtime!

Nice if expensive city to live.  As for being a cop... I cannot see it there.
