We can't take another hurricane, it would be devistation to the city all over again. Our city isin't even prepared At all. Where do yall think its headed? 1. Gustav has a different origin and path than Katrina. The targeted area is the same though, or at least as far as the forecasted track for Gustav is concerned.

As you can see by the picture at the link above, Hurricane Katrina originated somewhere North of Cuba as a tropical depression. It intensified into a tropical storm and eventually a category one hurricane. Katrina moved over Southern Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico. That is where it intensified into a category five hurricane. It made landfall on August 29, 2005 as a category four hurricane.

When Gustav enters into the Gulf of Mexico, let's hope and pray for the best, but plan for the worst. The Gulf of Mexico is a primary supplier of heat and moisture, which is needed for strong intensification. Even after three years, I have not forgotten about what Katrina did. New Orleans, LA and Biloxi, MS cannot afford something as powerful as Katrina.

I am forecasting a landfall somewhere East of New Orleans. However, I am not a professional, and my forecast is no more than a slightly educated guess.

Please keep yourself updated about Gustav at the following link:

  2. Good Luck. Gov. did call out National guards for LA. and police on standby. You stay safe.

  3. Well I have some slightly hope full and bad news for you.

Most of the forecast models are bringing Gustav to the west of New Orleans to make a Western LA landfall. BUT the National hurricane center and a select few other models are showing a direct hit or slight miss to the east of NO.

If it misses you to the east then you would get the northeast sector the worst part of the storm. A direct hit would be just as bad and devastating. If it takes the track to the West of NO then you guys would be mostly out of it. Although you would get lots of rain and a little wind.

This far out there is still little confidence in the track. The margin of error goes all the way from extreme western Florida to Central Texas. it is still to early to tell but make sure you stay alert onto the track and where the hurricane ends up.

Gustav could be a category 3 maybe a weak 4 so this will be the worst one yet this year.

Check out the National Hurricane Center Website for track information and hurricane aadvisories

  4. I am from the New Orleans area also, and I agree that we can't take another hurricane. I hope it goes south and not hit us b/c I just moved back not to long ago and i really, really, really don't want to evacuate. So the best of luck to you and I hope it doesn't hit and leave our city in ruins...again.

  5. We still don't know where the Tropical Storm is going and where it is going to make landfall. So we have to watch the weather and be prepared for it. If you are staying make sure your car is filled with gas and you have water and bread and all the stuff you will need. It could hit us so be prepared

  6. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but they are projecting a direct hit with new orleans all i can say is evacuate id proably leave thursday evening if you want to beat traffic
