Hurricane Gustav- best way to get from Lake Charles to Houston?

my dad is in Lake Charles but I heard I-10 is gridlocked. anyone have any idea what it really looks like? what would be the best way for him to get back to Houston?

  1. My parents live near lake Charles. I heard Calcasieu Parish is going to decide if an evcauation is needed sometime in the morning. Your dad can take come through the back roads and cross the bridge into Port Arthur and eventually hit 1-10 in Winnie.

    Keep in mind parts of !-10 will be used as contraflow and I don;t think you can travel west out of lake charles on I-10. Here is the city's website for the latest update:

    My parents are coming here to Houston. Even though the storm may make its way west towards us, we are not in an area that needs to evacuate.  


  2. I wouldn't suggest going to Houston, because Gustav can still hit there instead of Louisiana.  He should go north and then back south.
