  1. I live on the MS gulf coast.  I think it'll hit near LA and MS.  Being that it stretches out for almost 150 miles, AL will probably get damage, too.  No offense, but I really wish the Weather Channel would shut up about New Orleans...

  2. ive been researching and latest news is its moveing northwest and there saying it shoudl continue so im thinking deinetly texas ( i live in houston texas) maybe some of lousiana and courpis cristy maybe bc everytime i see were there traceing it its getting more over by texas

  3. Hi. I live just north of Lake Ponchatrain near Manchac. I think Gustav is going to come right on shore just slightly west of where the forecasts predict. It will probably clip the left side of Marsh Island and keep going North-North-West after that.

  4. It is heading that way and there's already a mandatory evacuation in effect. Leave now and be careful. They are predicting this storm will do more devastation than Katrina. Please leave the N.O. and be safe.

  5. how do we live in the same place and all the d**n stuff they have on the news and radio every hour and you don't know its suppose to coming to louisiana but new orleans wont get a direct hit suppose to go more jefferson parish and houma

  6. Gustav will land near new orleans but it will not be a katrina situation. The weather people make weather phenomenon's way more than they really are all the time except for 2005 when it was actually worse than we imagined.

  7. This is projected to be the "Storm of the Century"- worse than Katrina!

I found a site to listen to Live Emergency Scanners to track the evacuation and emergency efforts online.

Listen in here, and spread the link far and wide.

The more people know, the better chance we have of beating it this time.....

  8. I've been hearing Morgan City/Terrebonne Parish... which sucks for me because I live in Houma!

We're evacuating tomorrow actually to beat the traffic and the I-10 counterflow mess. Going to San Antonio, TX.

You who chose to stay... be as safe as you can, but know that your choice is kind of a death wish.

  9. gustav will be forming at the mouth of the mississippi streching from the beggining of mississippi all the way throught southeast texas :(

I live in mississippi i will pray for everyone . hope it doesn't hit as hard as katrina ! good luck

  10. Man...  I'm sitting on my couch (I've actually moved north to West Monroe), and I'm near tears with knots in my stomach the exact same as when I was sitting with other evacs 3 years ago watching on the TV not being able to look away.  I am terrified this is going to wreck NO again.  I don't want it to hit anywhere, but d**n.  I think it's going to hit somewhere between Morgan City and Lake Charles though.  Anyone who needs anything up in this area can email me. jen dot johnson1214 at gmail dot com... I have some baby supplies and time to give.  You guys are in my thoughts.  My sister should be up in a few hours.  She left NO at 3, and at 7:30 called from Hammond.  I'll be glad when they're safe and sound.  Wow.  This went off on a tangent!  Sorry.

  11. From the looks of some of these questions today, do you really live there or just saying you do?

If you do, I hope you're out of there already.

I'm not predicting where it will go because I

wish it wasn't going there at all.

  12. I don't know if this is how you intended it to be, but this is sick. Wherever Hurricane Gustav does hit, people will lose things. Homes, lives, loved ones. Entire cities will be affected by this, and your treating it as a game?

  13. Hurricane Gustav is suppose to hit New Orleans, once again. It will also be at least a category 3 to category 5 hurricane. I think people should also evacuate as soon as possible. It's a tough call to say whether people just go or stay. I wish the best for you!!!

  14. As I see it now, it should hit near Morgan City.  I hope it doesn't do much damage.  I'm in Avoyelles Parish (easterly to the where they predict the eye will be) and my wedding is planned for September 13, 2008.

  15. It looks very grim for New Orleans.

Looks like Gustav is going to be the next Katrina.

It's said that it could hit anywhere from the Florida Panhandle to Texas.

I really hope it doesn't decide to hit Florida, since I live in the Panhandle.

  16. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/tropical_weat...

This is an article on Hurrican Gustav.  They are saying it will reach around Texas all the way to Florida...so yes,  around Louisiana.

I'll be praying for ya =)

Wow...I need to call my friend...she's over there visiting right now.  But she probably knows...

    I'll call her anyway=)

  17. i think Hurricane Gustav is going to repeat another history for the New Orleans and all other cities that is along by the water. I think Gustav is going to re-destroy New Orleans and make it worst as the last time with Kartina

  18. i live in Lake Charles and I'm evacuating!

    http://www.srh.noaa.gov/lch/owbrief/owbr...

that link will tell you everything

  19. Write now it is a cat 5, and it is defiantly going to hit NO. I live in Vernon Parish, and if goes there it will be a cat. 1, they are doing mandatory evacuations here.  My sister lives in Florida and there are still going to get heavy winds up to about 60 miles. The highway is like a parking lot, all roads leading east closed around 4 am this morning. Hanna is pushing Gustav up even more. The weather people said that people anywhere from NO, to Houston should be careful. My mom isn't going anywhere or doing anything, so I am stuck here with like no protection.

  20. My daughter lives in Franklin, evacs started at 3 pm.........She just called , from St. Charles parish. They are headed to Ft. Polk.

    She is USCG.

When I talked to her, she said traffic is at a stand still.

The worse is expected at MC/Terrebonne Parish.

    Ashlyn:

    I know what ya mean.

I'm worried about my Aunt in Gulfport.

She had to leave her dog. ID'd

    Please pray for LA.

Kell called, She is in Fort Polk. Lots of peps from La there. She is waiting for her call up.

    USCG

  21. i pray it wont hit very strong, we cant go through another one, i live in biloxi, and we cant take another storm, we have a "bird farm" we dont eat them, there pets, so its hard to see so many thing you love pass.

If anything, it cant be another katrina, tip if you live in Louisiana, board the windows tight and the door, ALL opening so water cant get in if the levees brake, lets justs hope he will come at us weakly but we cant control it, stock up NOW on gas, food, water, and medicine, you have to be prepared for the worst, just like us.

  22. I live in Meridian, MS. The best answer is that it hits nowhere! But to be honest, someone has to get it. You find in ur mind kind of hoping that it is "them instead of us" because no one wants to deal with that again.

How can you know the best answer? Are you going to wait and see who gets ravished by the storm and award them 10 points, that will make them feel better knowing they won ur little game!!

We got mucked up hard last time this happened. My guess is that it is going to end up somwhere around the west of Louisiana, about 30-40 miles east of New Orleans and probably end up through Boozier City or somewhere. Who knows these things!!

  23. well, this storm has been weird, changing directions and what not.  supposedly, by the end of tonight (friday) they are supposed to have a more defind projected path.  as of right now, the storm is supposed to make landfall anywhere between the northwest florida panhandle (i live here, in pensacola) and around mid coastline texas.  most predictions are showing a more westernly hit, west of new orleans and more towards texas.  there are 2 areas of high pressure, 1 of them pushing it west, and thje other pushing north, that are affecting the projections. but until it get into the gulf of mexico, i don't think anyone will know EXACTLY where its going to make landfall.

  24. I think it will hit somewheres between vermillion bay and Houma, but thats what they've been saying.

I live in Houma, and we're not going anywheres as of now. We're in the middle of town in a brick house with hurricane shutters and a generator that will give us electricity and air conditioning,

    we're set to go.

    Eff Gustav!

    xD

  25. I just checked weather and they are saying it's going to hit around the New Orleans/Morgan City area. Praying it doesn't because I'm 45 mins away from NOLA and yall can not take another hit. The levee isn't even finished! And the poor homeless....

I hope everyone makes it out safely with no damage! Hoping a freak nature thing would happen and it die out in the gulf!

  26. well this is like pick a needle out of a needle stack but... I think it will hit mid coast texas between galveston and corpus christi.

it's destined to take a north turn when it gets in the Gulf of Mexico due to an upper level front. They have also been predicting a westerly projection as well...so There is my prediction.

  27. I guess that it will go to New Orleans. I would hope that you evacuate immediately. you will have to drive very far though because every hotel in northern lousiana is full. and i wouldnt go back to new orleans, its too dangerous. I would go see whats left and I would leave and not come back. So good luck. I hope it doesnt hit new orleans or you. so, be careful.

everyone please pray for new orleans and all of louisana. god bless everyone.

  28. it will probably aim toward new orleans but this time the center will be a bit west to the city instead of katrina in which she hit east of the city. actually the worst of the storm is the northeast side so new orleans would get a more direct hit, but the storm may or may not be as strong

  29. its going to hit areas like lake charles, grande isle, baton rouge, new orleans, st tammany parrish by that. nothing alittle by the east of louisiana bc of the air pressure on the east and the air pressure on the west will push it into texas. around tues to thurs

  30. well i heard on the tv yesterday and today that they are making people evacuate from new orleans and all the new orleans people are coming here (I live in alexandria, louisiana). i also heard that this hurricane is supposed to be a category 5 which means it's gonna be real strong. (personally i think it'll be another katrina) but if i were u i would evacuate just to be on the safe side! GOOD LUCK!!

  31. I am praying now still that it will die down in the Gulf before any harm can be done to anyone. The weather watchers are preparing and almost everyone has evacuated, it is now a catagorie 4-5 hurricane and is heading for New Orleans. It's calling for 15 FEET of water and 100+ winds. My mom and i were just watching it on the weather watchers. I PRAY FOR EVERYONE'S SAFTEY; STAY WELL!
