  1. you may get some rain bands, but nothing too bad. be prepared with fresh water. also if you have overgrown trees cut them so branches dont  hit the house if you do get high winds. watch weather reports and be ready, but dont be worried

  2. Hi,

If history is any indication, I can only share with you my experience.

I was in the Woodlands when Rita hit in 2005. If Gustav hits to the east of Houston, you can expect winds coming from the northeast. Some of the tall, thin pine trees in the area fell, and the roads were dirty but not impassable. The power went out in the morning on the day that Rita hit. Our area was without power for 3 days off and on (due to rolling blackouts). My parents evacuated from Kemah to our house, and when they returned to their house on the day Rita passed through, their power was restored within 12 hours. We suffered from more outages than they did.

Houston was in a panic, because Katrina hit only one month before. I would fill your cars with gas now and have water and batteries on hand.

Also consider boarding up your windows that will be exposed to the heaviest winds. You shouldn't see any storm surge in the Woodlands. Sit tight and host some friends from further down south.

  3. i think its hitting texas i live in between houston and galveston by the water but idk how far up north it will make it

  4. I hope not, because im evacuating to the woodlands.

  5. Just stay put for the time being.

  6. Its more likely to hit Louisiana at this time, so dont worry too much. :)

  7. You may witness a small or medium-small storm. But just in case, I would drive 10-20 miles west.
