Hurricane Lady well worth considering in Highfields Handicap at Leicester
Light Burst comes to Leicester in great shape, and is just one step away from a hat-trick. But he is doubtful for Monday’s Highfields Handicap, as the ground has eased up. The moisture in the surface will also be a massive concern for Wordismybond, Dynastic
and Daruband.
In such circumstances, the bettors should take a chance on Hurricane Lady, who is not a ground dependant. She has shaped well on her most recent turf start at Newmarket last month, and will be a hard nut to crack in the Highfields Handicap, set to start
at 17:00 GMT.
A total number of 14 horses have attracted towards the class 5 meeting, but a few of them are unlikely to run because of the testing conditions. The competition will be held over one mile and 60 yards. A handy prize of £2,588 is reserved for the ultimate
champion.
Hurricane Lady has not yet opened her account this season, but her last turf run at Newmarket was quite impressive. Although the Mike Murphy-trained held up in the beginning, she made smooth progress in the hands of Nicky Mackay. She edged left inside the
final furlong, and ran on to capture the third place in the 50 Willows Handicap.
Owned by Borgatti & Moir, the 4-year-old was awful on her latest outing at Kempton, but returning to turf would give her plenty of confidence. Hence, the punters should keep an eye on her while staking their money today.
Out of others, Buckland seems to be the strongest one. Hans Adielsson’s charge is currently in very good form. After making a terrible seasonal debut at Kempton, the 4-year-old turned things around, and clinched a couple of runner-up positions lately. On
his latest start at Sandown, the son of Oratorio missed the crown by 2¼ lengths.
This distance is suitable for Ancient Greece, but it is hard to trust him. George Baker’s trainee trailed off when last seen in April. Illustrious Prince is on a fair mark, but his record over one mile is not good at all.
Buckland is the biggest danger to Hurricane Lady. It will be interesting to see how the filly tackles her big opponent. Good luck to all the horses.
