Hurricane Wilma?

When hurricane wilma was headed for south florida they said it was supposed to have weakened but intensified. it left the yucatan as a cat 2 100mph winds but hit south florida as a cat 3 125mph winds!

It did weaken as it crossed the Yucatan.  I believe it was forecast to strengthen, but not as much as it actually did.  There is a lot of understanding still needed in the realm of tropical system processes leading to strengthening.
