Hurricane warning vs tropical storm warning??

if there was a large category 5 hurricane heading for gavelston tx.

they would issue a hurricane warning there, right.

but if the strongest winds would be around the gavelston area(160mph)

and new orleans only got 56 mph winds.

would new oeleans till have a hrurricane warning or Tropical storm warning.

what im asking is, will they always issuy a hurricane warning during a hurricane, or can they also issue a tropical storm warning for the areas with lest winds, wheter the winds are 160mph else where

  1. A tropical storm is defined as having winds over 35 miles per hour.  A hurricane is a tropical storm with winds over 75 miles per hour.
