Hurricanes spin Counter Clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere, but do they change direction once they hit land?

  1. No, they just lose some of their power in wind speed.  They can still drop heavy rain, however.


  2. The do not change the direction the spin, but they do change the direction they move.

    Hurricance SPIN counter clockwise (in norther hemisphere). They wioll ALWAYS spin counterclockwise. Because of that, while they are over the ocean they tend move move in a southeast to northwest direction (for example, from The Bahamas across Florida into Alabama).

    BUT once they hit land they tend to move in a southwest to northeast direction, for example from Atlanta towards Washington DC.

    Of course, this is just a tendency.  Each individual storm is different. Any one storm will wander all over the palce.  That is why it is so difficult to predict where they will "land" and where they will go after that.


  3. No, they just lose power when they hit land.

    The counter-clockwise spin of a hurricane happens due to the rotation of the earth around its axis.
