Question:

Hurt At Work? Work mans comp, on the job injury?

I walk and stand on concrete at my job a lot.

I have a messed up ankle from doing this.

I reported the injury to my boss, and she

said to go to the hospital when I get off

from work.

I did, and they took some x rays, and gave me

a couple perscriptions. One is antibiotic the

other is for pain.

Now my boss is saying I have to come

to work tomorrow, but I can't due to the

pain pills and the pain its self.

I am going to apply for work mans comp.

But she is insisting I come back to work

tomorrow, what should I do?

  1. You need to get a doctors note if you cant work. Show up to work some way by getting a ride. They might just put you on light duty so you still get payed and your employer doesnt have to pay out the workers comp. Workers comp is a lot less than what you normally make. So go to work and if the doc says you cant work then get a note.

  2. Show up at work (if you are able) but go straight to Human Resources and advise them of the situation.  They will be sure to get the paperwork together for any Workers Comp due you - and if you have any disability benefits - they will be able to get that moving too.

Let HR notify your boss of your situation.

  3. If the doctor said you couldn't go to work then thats what you tell your boss. If the doctor said you could work then you'd better show up.
