Question:

Hurt my foot last night, is it broken?

I was on my brother's skateboard last night and I tried to go down a ramp but I fell off halfway down and put all my weight on my left foot.

It hurt at the time - the pain is sharp and in the ball of my foot - but I managed to limp home. This morning, I think it's not quite as painful as before but it's swollen up more. There's also a line of about 5 bruises in a row running from my big toe to my heel. I can move my toes although it hurts to do so. I can limp around on it this afternoon without too much pain but I've just been at home resting it mostly.

Is it possibly broken or would the pain be much worse? I'm not sure whether I'm just being a wuss about the whole thing.

Opinions, please? I know I sometimes make too much of a big deal of injuries and I've been for an X ray last week on my wrist and it turned out not to be broken... I felt like I really wasted their time, and I don't want the same situation again.

What do you think? Thanks.

  1. Not broken. At the most a minor fracture. Not even. Just ice it to bring the swelling down. And stay off of it for a while.

  2. Go and see your doctor. Your not wasting there time.

  3. Its a sprain. Sudden sharp pain, bruise from ankle to toes, and swelling that slowly goes down over time. See your doctor and get his/her opinion because none of us are licensed MD's. Worst case situation you have a hairline or stress fracture in your foot.

  4. If you can't move your toes, Go straight to the hospital. If you can move your toes... I suggest going to your GP.

  5. Well I know computers are advanced but my one doesn't have an x-ray camera on it yet. Perhaps you should go to A & E to get it checked.

  6. i dont think its broken, but i'd get an xray just to be safe.

    good luck!

  7. Even if it is broken, they tend not to do anything with broken toes except tell you to keep your feet up when you are resting. If it is still painful in a few days get it checked out, but in the mean time take painkillers (e.g. paracetomol), keep your foot elevated when you are sitting. You could try Arnica gel for the bruising.

  8. It's not broken.  You wouldn't be able to put weight on it if it was broken.

  9. You are obviously very worried about this as I think this is your second question.  Please  go and see your doctor.  You are not wasting their time.  If you are in pain, that is what they are there for.  Please take good care of yourself.

  10. play it safe, get it looked at

  11. if it hurts without moving it around and is that swollen up , its very likely to be a hairline fracture.

not sure , but iam really sure you need to get it x rayed..

  12. Doesn't look broken to me...

  13. if you can move it its not broken.

  14. You weren't wasting their time. That's what they do. I dont think it would hurt (no pun intended) to go the doctor. Because last time there was nothing, but that doesnt say anything about this time. I think you should go to the doctor. It would definitely help, and they can tell you exactly whats wrong.

  15. Probably sprained. if you can still move it then it is not broken.

    ice it.

15 minutes on. 10 minutes of.

    rinse. repeat
