My parakeet is holding his foot limply by his wing and he's breathing kind of heavy. He can still use it if he has to, and he doesn't make any noise if he does so I'm not sure if it hurts or not. This has been going on for a couple of days and now he's breathing kind of heavy.

  1. My parakeet sometimes lets one leg rest by putting it under his feather while he's balanced on the other foot, thats normal, but if the point is he cant use his leg or you saw it get hurt than you have to contact a vet.

  2. Take a magnifying glass and look at the foot closely. Something as thin as  a human hair will get wrapped around a toe or the foot. They will try to pull it off. That only serves to tighten it up. This cuts of circulation to the area off. Then it swells. I could have bumble foot. See if there is sore in the middle of the pad in the foot. He either has a respiratory infection or air sac mites.  Is he around smoke?

  3. YOU NEED to get him to a vet, it sounds like he's hurt his foot, maybe even broken.

    VET!

  4. IDK, TAKE HIM TO THE VET AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! He's probably suffering!

  5. i really dont know wat to tell u but just take it to the vet.

  6. Oh my god.

Ok look, tthis is knda serious. You have to tell your parents that if you dont bring it to the vet ASAP, it will die. Breathing with a wheezzing sound is a very dangerous thing.

If they refuse, there is nothing much you can really do as only a vet can handle this type of situation.

  7. go to the vet silly. unless you've taken pre vet school, theres nothing you can do but hand him over to someone experienced with medicine.
