Does anybody besides myself think that Mayweather is making even more of a joke outta Boxing then it's already been? I mean come on!! This guy is wasting his talent and energy on something as stupid as the WWE! And he's facing a guy whos 300lbs. plus his weight? Boxing has had a bad rep for the past 10-20 years and I really think this c**p he's doing just made it worse for the sport.

  1. nope. o and the dude is 450lbs.

its just publicity. Think about it, he is getting more fans to watch boxing. All these wrestling fans will start watching boxing when he fights and more and more will start watching boxing

  2. More and more people are watching MMA, boxing is almost dead.........It's all about the money.

Get it and retire.  He's made his name in the ring, now it's time to get paid.

  3. I've said it for years. . . . and I'm not alone on this one.  Mayweather's main motivator is  M  O  N  E  Y. . .

I bet if they paid him twenty million to dress in drag and star in CHICAGO on Broadway, he'd do it.  And so would you.  And you.  And you.  And me.

  4. No I don't think his participation in Wrestlmania is making himself or boxing a joke. He's not the first athlete outside the wrestling world to make some easy cash in the WWE. Ali was in the first wrestlmania, Tyson did some stuff. Even Lawrence Taylor made some extra cash. It's relatively safe although Mayweather is pretty small as compared to the others who have participated.

What hurts boxing is the failure of guys like Mayweather to defend their titles against the other top rated fighters, and the fact that everything is on PPV. A few yrs back there were always fights on the 3 major networks, it gave you a better chance to follow the fighters and their careers!

  5. Boxing isn't a joke, the heavyweight division is.  For one Mayweather is scarred to fight THE BEST. No, Oscar isn't the best. Cotto is the best, heck Margaritio was a true #1 rank and he claimed Baldomir was better... please. Everyone knows Mayweather is the worst cherry picking top fighter in history.  Mayweather is about money, he doesn't care about boxing, fans or me or you; frankly i don't care about him either he doesn't fight the best he fights the 3rd top.  Taylor fights the best constantly.  Back to boxing not being a joke; this year has been great, fights are taking place (almost one ever week, we have Haye and Marcelli coming up this week).  The media thought UFC would bring boxing down, in reality it is just making it better by letting us see fighters again and again even after a loss.  Before a boxer would lose and his carreer would be over.  In a sport where styles makes fight, there were no second chances.  If a rare second chance, they had to fight for about 2-3 years just to get a second shot.

  6. you don't now what your talking about. mayweather would only be a joke if he passed up an opportunity to take in a purse that big. plus if you doubt his boxing credential name who else has 5 titles in 5 separate weight classes?

  7. Floyd Mayweather is just one person in the sport. No "one man" is bigger than a sport. He doesn't make or break the sport in the eyes of a true fan. Mayweather will soon be gone from the sport and it will continue to live on. The sport has lived on before Mayweather, during Mayweather and it will be okay after he is gone. So it really doesn't matter what he does outside of the sport.

  8. no hes doing something most people dont see, building his name up in other sports, so when he defense his title more people will know his name and have more of a chance to make mega$$$$$$$$$.(because they'll hate him and want to see him lose or win). just like ali, run off his mouth for attention.

  9. The dude is making 20 million.  If he would pass up that much cash, then he'd be a joke.
