Thanks for the advise on getting an ATV for my husband's 50th, but Craigs List in NE is slim, so someone with some experience please take a look at this site and tell me what you think. Or if it were you, should I just give him a certificate to go choose one....lame, would love to have one here when he wakes up 50. Please help me guys!

  1. Personally, I would stay away from the off-name brands. Top names are; Yamaha, Honda & Suzuki. I suggest going down to a local motorcycle/ATV dealership and ask questions. Recently, I bought a 2004 Suzuki LTZ400 (I race) and although expensive, financing made it affordable. Check into that and let him size one out...it's hard to buy a quad for someone else without having them feel it out first.

  2. Yea stick with the name brands like honda and yamaha. This will be better in the long run with warranty's and if you have to replace something parts will be more easier to find. Also aftermarket parts will be more popular.

  3. If you are looking for an ATV you would be much better off sticking with one of the big players if you can afford it.  I have heard bad things about the Chinese imports.  Honda, Yamaha, Polaris, etc, offer much better machines, although they are much more money.

About craigslist, if you run firefox (easy free download if you don't) you can go to crazedlist.org and search a lot of different areas in craigslist, its pretty nice.

  4. just keep looking on craigslist.com...

if he's a big dude you're gonna need a big atv...

and if this is for pure play, no don't get a utility ATV.... either will be fun... but if you're getting it just for fun, get the one designed for it.... (sport atv, like the raptor)
