    Since I don't see a date on this question, I am not sure if you've moved on or not, but I hope you do. I am in a similar situation, and I think your concerns are perfectly reasonable. I see nothing offensive in what you've said. It is worrisome to me that he said seeing his family on the weekend wasn't enough time. That sounds like he is excessively dependent on his family (and they probably manipulate him emotionally so that he will stay this way). Unfortunately, your best bet is to cut your losses and seek counseling as you were talking about doing earlier. Further up the road, you may find someone who's a little more mature and willing to set appropriate boundaries with family (why do men seem to have more trouble with this than women?).
