Husband going to AIT in Virgina....?

When he goes to does his AIT for the army, am I allowed to at least go with and get my own place out there while he is doing his training at the base?

  1. You sure can.  But remember it's going to be at your own expense.  The Army isn't going to pay for you to live out there.  And don't expect to see him all the time.  If he is in AIT he's going to be pretty much on lockdown during the week and you'll probably get a chance to see him on the weekends.  Is he going to Ft. Eustis?  I'm there doing some training right now and I'm seeing all these AIT soldiers having way more freedoms than I got when I went through AIT a few years ago so you might get lucky and get to hang out with him during the week, but don't expect anything.


  2. as a civilian you can go anywhere.

    whether or not the military will pay for it or allow him to live with you is another story.
