  1. If he's into history, he should visit the Paulskirche. It's a church right in the middle of Frankfurt, and it is where - with a few detours - democracy in Germany originated from. There's an exhibition in there and some panels with explanations as far as I remember, but there also tend to be people around willing to talk to you about the building and its story.

Nearby, there's the Römer, a small square with some old houses (if I remember correctly, not much of the actual building substance is old as they were rebuilt after the war).

There's Goethe's birthplace to look at - he's probably Germany's greatest poet. And the Jewish museum is worth visiting as well, lots of local as well as German history.

Heidelberg is where everyone goes. Yes it's nice, but it's a bit "Hey, I want to know what it's like in the US, I'm going to Vegas". So hope your husband decides to enjoy Frankfurt.

  2. There is not much to see about military, but many museums, cafes, restaurants, shopping centers, nice little fashion stores, main river, sachsenhausen, where he can drink special appelwein from Frankfurt, big airport, big train station, botanic garden Palmengarten, ZOO  and more and more . I live in Frankfurt over 24 years.

  3. Take the train to Heidelburg(not far) and see the castle. Awesome place, beautiful city.....
