  1. Yes hydrogen peroxide can help the best is to see a doctor. If it is infected he will need an antibiotic

  2. Your husband probably has water behind his eardrum. You don't necessarily have to swim to have this happen. If his ear infection is already full blown, he may need an antibiotic. If you use hydrogen peroxide, mix it about equal parts with warm water. Use a small paper towel or tissue to absorb the mixture. Place your head to the side and squeeze the mixture into your ear. You'll hear some popping, but that is the hydrogen peroxide cleaning out the excess wax.  Let it stay for a couple minutes, then turn head to other side for a few seconds to drain.  (I put a wash cloth between my ears and face to prevent it from getting it into my eyes) You said you don't have any hydrogen peroxide, but it's cheap and can be found at your stores usually with the alcohol. At any rate, you can use this mixture too: 1/2 vinegar (just plain old apple cider vinegar will do) and 1/2 alcohol. Put several drops into each ear. We used this mixture when I was younger and on the swim team. We actually carried small dropper bottles with it to swim meets to help prevent infection!  Don't ever put pure alcohol into your ear because it can dry the ear canal and cause dermatitis behind the ear drum. The vinegar actually acts as a natural skin softener to prevent this. But if none of that helps, go see a doctor because if it's bad enough, an antibiotic may be in order. Good Luck.

  3. Peroxide will clean the wax but little else.Olive oil will not help at all. It may make it worse. Witch hazel is good but a Dr is better

  4. Never mess with an ear infection.  That area is too close to the brain.

Go and see a doctor - right away.
