I am just trying to get scientific answers behind this. I know God will surprise us, but there is a very good probability it will be what? Any chance at being blue?

  1. It depends on a few things. Because your husband has blue eyes, he has BOTH recessive genes for blue eyes. (Let's say rr (little r is blue gene, big R is brown, you have to have 2 little r's to have blue eyes as it is a recessive trait.) Anyone who has brown eyes could possibly be the carrier for a blue eyed gene. If you have brown eyes (Rr or RR - if you are Rr, you have the blue eyed gene somewhere in you. If you are RR you don't, you have the genes for brown eyes.) Because you have brown eyes (as well as your parents) you may or may not be the carrier of the blue eyed recessive gene. You wouldn't know, as even if you did have it, your eyes would still be brown. Knowing both cases (your husband has blue eyes, you are the carrier OR your husband has blue eyes, you aren't the carrier) we can do a simple Punnett square. (way of determining odds of a certain gene.) If you are the carrier, your child has a 50/50 chance of having blue eyes or brown eyes. If you are NOT the carrier, your baby will have brown eyes. Congrats on the baby!

  2. I have brown eyes, my husband blue.

We have 2 (very!) blue eyed children and one brown.

  3. There's really no way to tell. I have hazel eyes, my husband has brown eyes-I thought for sure our daughter would have one of ours. But she has blue eyes (not just when she was a newborn, but still). My mom has brown eyes, my dad has hazel. My husband's dad has brown and his mom has blue. So maybe she got her blue eyes from her grandma. Who knows. The wife could be a carrier of the blue eye gene without actually having blue eyes, so that could increase the baby's chance of having blue eyes.
